Very good question!
Goats find themselves in all the same situations as dogs and cats. They have been given a name, treated like a member of the family and then the family for whatever reason can no longer care for their beloved pet. Divorce, Death, Foreclosure or College are just some of the reasons people are forced to relinquish a goat they have dearly loved and cared for. If they bring the animal to an animal shelter it will almost certainly be put down because most shelters do not have a proper facility for keeping a goat.
